It seems as though you put a coffee (or a tasty oat latte) in my hand and the words just come gushing out of me.
While I was doing my morning routine this morning and got into my journaling piece, things got deep. Like, corny Gina deep. You see I always do a gratitude list to start so that starts the mushy train and then if I am doing a deep journal... look out.
So where am I going with this. Get to the point, Gina.
Well it got me thinking about my business, how far I have come, how I have transitioned, how I never thought in a kajillion years I would be a Life and Business Mentor, but here I am and LOVING every minute of it.
I mean helping people change their lives in both business and life really is what I am meant to do here… it is my Care Bear super power FOR SURE.
But it got me thinking about how I started, how I received some REALLY bad advice and how I took those hard lessons and turned them into something pretty beautiful if you ask me.
So, I thought I would jot down the top 5 things I wish I would have known starting out in business and just overall in life too.
1.) Be authentic. Don’t try to be someone else, don’t try to act like someone else, don’t try to do it a certain way. Yes, learn, get ideas and follow others for inspiration but never at the cost of losing who you are.
If you have to sacrifice who you are there is something wrong.
2.) Slow down to speed up. Oh I wish I could tell younger Gina this. Slow down! You don’t have to do everything, say yes to everyone and be everything to everyone. Take time for you, enjoy your lattes, get outside, follow the sunrises and sunsets and take time to just BE.
AND, you know what? Everything you need to get done WILL get done and it will feel so much better.
3.) What others think of you is none of your business. Not everyone is going to like you or be able to relate to you and that is ok. Your worth is not defined by what others think of you.
Just show up as YOU and the right people will come and stay in your life. Trust me on this one.
4.) It's not about the likes (cue song, all about the bass, insert new lyrics, it’s not about the likes, about the likes... you can now rest assured I am dancing while sipping my latte singing these new lyrics out of tune to this song) You gotta have fun, folks.
.
Seriously though...Don’t get caught up in the likes. Likes does not equate worthiness, success or accomplishment. If focused on too much it is a dream and mood killer and will leave you feeling uninspired and stagnant.
5.) Always lead with service and I mean always. The way I know I am running my business and life properly is I ask myself “Am I leading with love and service?” If the answer is no, I don’t do it. Then I find a way where my vision is inspired with helping others, providing value and helping them with a pain point. Always lead with love.
Hope these help and give you a little perspective from my experiences and realize these tips can apply in ALL areas of your life.
There is nothing more that I want than you to be happy, live life as your true authentic self and decide to go for it `cause YOU deserve it.
Xx
Gina
