You are an empowered woman!
lesson 3: clear the bullshit
This week is going to be revitalizing, it is going to be releasing any bad energy, we are going to get any limiting beliefs out in the open and we are going to begin clearing and removing the things that are holding us stagnant. What you will notice during this lesson is I am going to push you to find the following:
- the blocks
- the fears
- the limiting beliefs
- the noise
- the BULLSHIT
In order to reach our goals, we have to find out what is holding us back so we can overcome it and bust through it.
I will say upfront, being honest with ourselves is key to bring these bad guys to the surface. I admit, it may be hard, it may be challenging to face, it might make you feel uncomfortable but heck, isn`t that why you are here? To grow? To get uncomfortable? To let go of the things that have been holding you back for WAY too long? That is what I thought, so WELCOME. Welcome to the NEW YOU, the you who is going to finally face that bullshit and change it.
While completing my training with Tony Robbins, I learned that we all can be practical psychologists. We all have it in us to decipher what is really going on in with ourselves. We have it in us to access what we need. We have the skills to move forward. EACH OF US, has that power. When we find that power and use it, it can literally change the direction of our lives.
BUT, in order for this to happen, we need to ask ourselves 3 questions.
1.) What stops us from moving forward? From taking action? Being our best?
2.) What controls and determines the quality of our lives?
3.) Why do we do what we do? What are the ultimate drives behind all human action?
Well, we know of the answer to the 3rd question as we all have completed our basic human needs quiz. You know what drives you. You know what motivates your behaviours. You know why you do what you do.
But what about the other two questions?
Let`s start with the first one. What stops us from moving forward?
We could know all the skills. Know exactly what to do. Have the resume to back up your decisions. But yet we can`t move forward?
The answer is FEAR. Fear can destroy everything. It can destroy our psychology and immobilize us from taking action. It can keep us stuck and stop us in our tracks. The thing with fear is that everyone is a victim. At some point in everyone`s life, fear will be present. It could be fear of failure, fear of rejection, fear of success, fear of being alone, fear of not being enough, fear of love, fear of the unknown, fear of death, the list can go on and on. Sometimes, we feel a combination of these fears all at once, leaving us feeling paralyzed and unable to take action. But, you might be happy, or not, to hear that fear is a natural emotion and it is hard-wired into every human being. It will not go away. No amount of understanding, strategies, etc will make it go away. The secret to it all is to learn how use fear instead of letting it use you.
While we all experience a variety of combinations, studies show that there are two primary fears that all human beings share and they are:
1.) The fear of we`re not ENOUGH
2.) The fear we won`t be LOVED
In a summation, this is what stops us from moving forward. As you might be guessing, we will be covering this in our homework and we will narrow down what your top fears are and then we will learn how to make them work for you.
The second question at hand is....
What controls and determines the quality of our lives?
To quote directly from TR himself....
"What controls our lives are the meanings we associate to the things in our lives, which are shaped by our own personal psychology and our world view (the believes and values that we`ve created!))
For example: two people may experience the same event, where one person thinks "God is punishing me, I might as well die," and someone else on the other hand thinks, "God is challenging me. This is the greatest gift I have ever received." The perceptual difference not only affects the quality of each person`s life, but what action they will take net.
We will take a look at your mindset and psychology in our homework to narrow down where you are and how this could be helping you or hurting you.
You see, once meaning is established, each individual will have a pattern of emotions that they associate to this meaning as their natural way of coping. This carries into every area of life and is your default for how you handle things. Once you think about how people react differently to the same situation it is quite powerful. The variance in meanings and emotions that trigger the response is virtually unlimited.
These meanings are driven by our individual patterns of emotions. These meanings stem from our life circumstances, our conditioning and our learned responses. There are so many different people in the world. For example, we all know people who are happy all the time, who are negative, who are always rushed or frustrated, sad or angry.
We all have a variety of emotions we consistently experience and these emotions are driven by three forces that mould meanings we take from these emotions. Tony has coined the three primary patterns of emotion, the TRIAD.
These three forces really govern our actions. On the call Monday, we will talk about these forces in depth and do a bit of work around what these 3 forces mean for you.
In the meantime, our homework this week will focus on your fears which will lead us to unwrapping some of your current limiting beliefs. We will also be doing some work on the call to break down some barriers and identify what your limiting beliefs are. These usually step from identifying your fears. Come to the call with paper and pencil because we are gonna get to work.
Ok, I think I have given you lots to think about so far today. So take a deep breath, maybe take a walk or get a cup of tea or heck a glass of wine and buckle down and tackle your homework. Oh and in case you need it today, YOU ARE AMAZING and YOU GOT THIS!
